چکیده

We show that geometric torsion does not lead to new chiral dissipationless transport effects. Instead apparent response can be viewed as a manifestation of the vortical effect.

Chiral Dirac fermions on the lattice using Geometric Discretisation

The theorem of Nielsen and Ninomiya [3] came with a topological proof of the fact that under reasonable assumptions, fermion doubling is unavoidable on the lattice. A key element of the proof was the periodicity of the Brillouin zone thus setting the approach in momentum space. In other arguments [4], [5] it was argued that doubling is already present when one starts one step back and consider ...

Ocular torsion responses to sinusoidal electrical vestibular stimulation

BACKGROUND Eye movements evoked by electrical vestibular stimulation (EVS) offer potential for diagnosing vestibular dysfunction. However, ocular recording techniques are often too invasive or impractical for routine clinical use. Furthermore, the kinematic nature of the EVS signal is not fully understood in terms of movement sensations. NEW METHOD We apply sinusoidal EVS stimuli varying from...

Comment on: Topological invariants, instantons, and the chiral anomaly on spaces with torsion

Quantum anomalies both in the Riemannian and in the Riemann-Cartan spacetimes were calculated previously using different methods, see e.g. [11,25]. However, recently [3] the completeness of these earlier calculations have been questioned which all demonstrated that the Nieh–Yan four-form [18] is irrelevant to the axial anomaly. For the axial anomaly, we have a couple of distinguished features. ...

fMRI Evidence of ‘Mirror’ Responses to Geometric Shapes

Mirror neurons may be a genetic adaptation for social interaction. Alternatively, the associative hypothesis proposes that the development of mirror neurons is driven by sensorimotor learning, and that, given suitable experience, mirror neurons will respond to any stimulus. This hypothesis was tested using fMRI adaptation to index populations of cells with mirror properties. After sensorimotor ...

Review High-performance liquid chromatographic enantioseparation of drugs containing multiple chiral centers on chiral stationary phases

In recent years there has been considerable interest in the synthesis and separation of enantiomers of organic compounds especially because of their importance in the biochemistry and pharmaceutical industry. High-performance liquid Chromatography is a very useful method for the direct separation of enantiomers. However, about 30−40 years ago, commercially available chiral stationary phases wer...
